The ecology and evolution of chemically-mediated consumer-prey interactions

I use behavioral analyses and natural products chemistry to understand how plant traits, particularly plant secondary  chemistry, influence herbivore feeding preferences and thus ultimately plant evolution.

My work in this area is also strongly linked to invasion by non-native plants, in particular testing the hypothesis that exotic plants experience enemy release because they are more chemically defended than native plants.
